Building the US-India Bridge for Technology, Innovation & Democratic Governance

The Washington presence of The Dialogue, one of India’s leading technology policy think tanks, advancing the US-India technology corridor through research, writing, and convening.

Who We Are

The Dialogue America is the Washington, DC presence of The Dialogue (est. 2017), one of India’s leading technology policy think tanks. Recognized among the Top Ten Think Tanks to Watch by the University of Pennsylvania’s Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program, The Dialogue convenes government, industry, academia, and civil society to shape technology policy.

As the Secretariat of Coalition for Responsible Evolution of AI (CoRE-AI), India’s leading multistakeholder coalition on responsible AI, we work closely with Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of India, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, and the IndiaAI Mission on AI governance, the PDP Act, copyright, and digital sovereigny. We bring that experience and network to Washington to strengthen the US-India technology corridor.

Why We Exist

Technology is reshaping economies, societies, and the way democracies function. Artificial intelligence, digital platforms, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies create extraordinary opportunities alongside complex risks and difficult policy choices.

Effective governance cannot be built in silos. It requires informed dialogue across sectors, disciplines, and borders.

The Dialogue America exists to foster informed, constructive, and solutions-oriented conversations that bring people together to advance innovation while strengthening democratic values and public trust.

Why Now

01 | ACCELERATING CHANGE: Technologies are evolving faster than our policy frameworks.

02 | A GAP IN THE CORRIDOR: US-India technology engagement remains under institutionalised companies, with Europe and US-China, despite India’s growing leadership in AI, digital public infrastructure, talent, and resilient supply chains.

03 | DEMOCRATIC IMPERATIVE: Open societies require informed dialogue to navigate uncertainty and build trust.

04 | GLOBAL INTERDEPENDENCE: Local decisions have global implications and demand shared wisdom.
